Online 432 Hz Piano

By convention, the note A4 (this is the one that’s located above middle C) is typically tuned to a frequency of 440 Hz. All the other notes on the piano are then tuned relative to this frequency.

However, tuning to 440 Hz is merely a modern convention and there is no fundamental reason why a piano must be tuned to this frequency.

Indeed, in the 19th Century, the French and Austrian governments recommended tuning to a frequency of 435 Hz, and in Britain, piano tuners had been tuning to 439 Hz.

Many people prefer the sound of a piano where the A4 note is tuned to 432 Hz, citing a warmer, deeper and more peaceful sound. The online piano on this page is tuned to 432 Hz so you can hear for yourself the difference.

One such modern song that is tuned to 432 Hz is Redbone by Childish Gambino (Donald Glover), released in 2016. If you try to play along to this song using a conventionally tuned piano, it will sound out of tune.

However if you play along with our online 432 Hz piano, you will hear that the frequencies match exactly.

Try playing the lead synth melody in Redbone, starting on the B-flat. You can play it with these keys on your Qwerty keyboard:
