Online xylophone

Play the xylophone here with our simple online keyboard. The xylophone is a wooden instrument that resembles the glockenspiel and sounds very similar to the marimba. It consists of wooden bars arranged in a similar layout to a piano keyboard, which are hit with a mallet, held by the player, to produce the sound. The xylophone has a harder sound compared to the marimba, which is softer and more mellow.

You may be familiar with the sound a xylophone produces from the introduction to Gotye’s song Somebody That I Used to Know, where a xylophone is used in the introduction. The instrument is also popular in the theme music for children’s TV programmes such as Mr Benn and Funnybones. In the world of classical music, it features prominently in Camille Saint-Saëns piece Danse Macabre.

To play the Xylophone, you can press the keys on your Qwerty keyboard, click the notes with your mouse, or if you’re using a touch device, tap the keys with your finger. If you have a USB midi device, you can plug this into your computer to play via that method too.
